Catching Up!

We have had a busy summer and thus haven't had a lot of time to blog, so we have a lot of catching up to do.  We are going to do a quick overview of several things in a few upcoming blogs.

A Thought

I recently came across this poem called Babies Don't Keep written by Ruth Hulbert Hamilton.

It is so true.  Read and enjoy!

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren’t his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

This poem struck a cord in my heart and it is one that needs to be struck frequently in us mothers.  Too often we focus on (in all reality) the petty things in life and forget the most important- spending time with your children and family.  While we all want our homes to be wonderful reflections, sometimes we spend so much time trying to impress others that we slack in our time spent with our children.  I have learned in the past 3 months, that spending time with my little Justus is very important.  Sometimes my house isn't as clean as I would like or the dishes may sit until the next day, but I have realized that sometimes there are more important things in life.  Yes, I still get my housework and many other things accomplished, but my biggest job in life is simply and lovingly rocking my baby, kissing the boo-boos, reading the stories, and guiding this precious little soul to Jesus Christ.

May we never forget how important our jobs are as Mothers.  It is God ordained and that is good enough for me!

Justus' first recording trip with CA Tapes

We were able to help Wilbur, Shirley, and Danny at a conference in Cincinnati, OH.
Eating at Waffle House.  Paul and Betty would be proud. :)

Someday Justus, you can eat one too!
