Christmas and Old-Fashioned Goodness

We recently found out about Pepsi's "retro" soft drink- Throwback Pepsi, as well as Throwback Mt. Dew, and Throwback Dr. Pepper.
These pop products were made the way they used to be- with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.  It was only here for a limited time and can hardly be found in the stores anymore.
Ryan absolutely loved the Throwback Pepsi!  It had a richer, cleaner taste than the current Pepsi.  Yum!

The Arrival of the Citrus Fruit

Grandpa and Grandma Roth have been in the citrus fruit business for 46 years this year!  It is always such a delight when the shop is filled with the wonderful aroma of the different fruits and candies.

One yearly event that marks the arrival of the fruit is the star that adorns the top of the t.v. antenna.
Grandpa has rigged an ingenious way of getting the star the whole way to the top.

The antenna is on a swivel at the base, so the whole thing can be lowered down to the roof, the star attached and then raised back up again!

Faithful customers know that when they see the star lit, the delicious fruit has arrived.

The signs must be replaced with the Harvest to Home Citrus Fruit signs, and then the fun begins.

We were delighted to be able to help Grandpa and Grandma with this project!

Ryan's Russet Round-up

Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, recently hosted a dinner put on by the youth of the Church.  They seated, served, and waited on the adults while decked out in their Cowboy garb.

The theme of the night was Ryan's Russet Round-up, featuring Amanda's Amazing Apple Pie.  So, Ryan and I were the host and hostess and greeted everyone as they came in the door.

We too were dressed for the cowboy theme.  (It is hard to dress like a cowgirl when you are pregnant!)

What a fun night fellowshipping with those of like precious faith!

We Spotted Santa Claus!

Sitting at the gas station and filling up with gas, gives one a wonderful opportunity to peruse your surroundings.  What did I find this time though as I happened to look in the rear-view mirror?

Santa Claus-- vacationing in Southern Illinois! :)
Trying to be inconspicuous, I took his picture in the rear-view mirror, thus the backwards words!

A Pillar of Fire

Ever wonder what the Pillar of Fire might have looked liked to the Israelites wondering in the desert?
As we were traveling down to Providence Prairie one evening, we saw an amazing sight!

The sun was setting and casting a beautiful glow across the clouds.

Then, all of a sudden, there appeared a pillar of fire! :)  Or that is what we thought it might have looked like.

Pizza House Ribbon Cutting

We were thrilled to be witnesses of the Pizza House Ribbon Cutting!  The owners asked Ryan to be in the picture also, seeing as he was their "very first" customer when The Pizza House in Bridgeport, IL re-opened.
